IntechOpen has added a first batch of around 2,000 of their 4,300 titles to the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB). The directory enables the search and discovery of Open Access books, increasing visibility for authors and helping their books reach a broader audience.
The DOAB provides a searchable index to peer-reviewed monographs and edited volumes published under an Open Access business model, with links to the full texts of the publications at the publisher’s website or repository. The directory is open to all publishers who publish academic, peer reviewed books in Open Access and should contain as many books as possible, provided that these publications are in Open Access and meet academic standards.
Academic books in DOAB must be available under an Open Access license and must be subjected to independent and external peer review prior to publication. Records can be aggregated in commercial services and libraries can integrate the directory into their online catalogues, helping scholars and students to discover the books.
IntechOpen will provide metadata on books and chapters, which is harvestable in order to maximise dissemination, visibility and impact.
