IOP Publishing and Council of Australian University Librarians sign a three-year transformative agreement -

IOP Publishing (IOPP) and the Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL) have signed a three-year transformative agreement (TA) for unlimited open-access publishing and access to IOPP's journals.

The agreement, which starts on January 1, 2023, is IOPP's first TA in the Asia Pacific region, and CAUL's first open-access agreement with the largest physics publisher. It is expected to dramatically increase access to physical science research produced by Australian physics researchers.

The agreement allows unrestricted access to all of IOPP's journals and partner journals as well as uncapped open-access publishing across 76 eligible Gold and hybrid journals. Authors will be able to publish their research openly at no cost to them.

As part of IOPP’s commitment to open science, the society publisher is implementing a program of activities to encourage and support greater access, transparency, and inclusivity to increase the impact of scientific research.
