IOP Publishing (IOPP) has entered into a nationwide open access agreement with the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey’s (TÜBİTAK) National Academic Network and Information Center (ULAKBİM).
The three‑year ‘read and publish’ arrangement is IOPP’s first national‑level agreement in Turkey. It grants researchers across all 236 universities in the country unlimited open access publishing in IOPP journals and select partner titles. The agreement is expected to enable Turkish researchers to share their work openly while enhancing the global visibility of the nation’s scholarly output.
Mehmet Mirat Satoğlu, Director of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, stated that the agreement represents a step toward transforming Turkey’s scholarly publishing system. He explained that researchers will gain access to a wider range of publications and have the opportunity to increase the visibility of their work through open access in IOPP journals. He noted that the collaboration aligns with Turkey’s open science policies and contributes to the international presence of its research.
Julian Wilson, Chief Sales Officer at IOPP, noted that research activity in Turkey is increasing and receiving international attention. He stated that TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM’s commitment to open access has contributed to this development, and that the new nationwide agreement will support researchers in sharing their work more broadly.
