IOP Publishing (IOPP) has introduced a new annual award program to recognize the contributions of Editorial Board members who support journal development, peer review activities, and engagement within the scholarly research community. The awards aim to highlight the role Editorial Board members play in maintaining rigorous publication standards and supporting trusted scientific research.
Editorial Board members contribute to several aspects of the publishing process, including guiding the strategic development of journals and supporting the publication of high-impact research. Their responsibilities include working with leading researchers to facilitate the publication of innovative studies that enhance a journal’s profile and influence within the academic community.
The awards also recognize Editorial Board members who provide strategic insights that influence a journal’s direction and development, as well as those who engage with researchers, institutions, and scholarly communities through ambassadorial activities that increase journal visibility. In addition, the awards acknowledge excellence in peer review practices, including the quality, quantity, and timeliness of reviewer reports prepared by Editorial Board members.
Nominations for the awards were submitted by journal teams within IOP Publishing. A panel of three publishing experts reviewed the nominations and selected 10 winners based on their contributions to journal development, peer review support, and community engagement. The awards are presented across eight research subject categories that correspond to the scientific areas covered by IOP Publishing journals. These categories include Machine Learning, Quantum Science / Photonics and Physics, etc.
