Non-profit scientific publisher Institute of Physics (IOP) Publishing, UK, has announced the appointment of Dr Graham McCann as head of product management and innovation.
Reporting to Dr Olaf Ernst, commercial director of IOP, Dr McCann will take responsibility for developing and implementing the company's electronic publishing strategy. He will be based in the company's Bristol head office and will join the business on June 20, 2011.
Dr McCann's most recently served as publisher of electronic products at the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), where he was responsible for the development of the RSC's new delivery platform for books, journals and database content. He also previously developed and launched the RSC's eBook Collection. He has led the in-house development of editorial article submission and workflow systems, and recently outsourced the submission system to Scholar One.
In earlier roles at the RSC, Dr McCann was responsible for developing a suite of journals in the chemical sciences, as a Publisher and as a Managing Editor. He also led the RSC's successful journal article growth programme.
