IOP Publishing (IOPP) has released its 2024 Highlights Report, showcasing a year of significant transformation while maintaining high standards in peer review and research integrity.
Key achievements include:
• 36,011 journal articles published, up from 28,977 in 2023
• 47% of journal articles published as open access
• 87 million content downloads from IOPscience in 2024
• 15,000 reviewers awarded IOPP Trusted Reviewer status
• 15% of accepted articles in IOPP’s open access journals from authors in lower-income economies, supported by its APC discount and waiver program
• 100% of IOPP funds reinvested into science
The report highlights how IOPP is navigating rapid shifts in scholarly publishing, including the integration of scalable, secure, and resilient technologies to enhance digital experiences. Artificial intelligence is also a key focus, as IOPP explores its role in shaping the future of scholarly communication.
IOPP continues to lead in peer review innovation through initiatives such as co-review, double-anonymous peer review, and its Peer Review Excellence training and certification program.
