The Institute of Physics (IOP) and IOP Publishing (IOPP) are set to launch 'Progress In Physics 2024,' a two-day hybrid conference focused on the latest advancements in condensed matter physics. The event will take place from October 9-10, 2024, at the Institute of Physics’ headquarters in London, with both in-person and online participation options available.
"Progress In Physics 2024" is part of IOPP's newly introduced Progress In series™ of journals, designed to showcase cutting-edge research in various fields of physics. The conference also marks a significant milestone for IOPP’s flagship journal Reports on Progress in Physics™, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.
The event will feature plenary talks from the editorial board of Reports on Progress in Physics, as well as invited talks from some of the world’s leading physicists. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a poster competition and engage in networking sessions designed to foster collaboration between physicists and policymakers.
Confirmed speakers for the event include:
• Subir Sachdev, Editor-in-Chief of Reports on Progress in Physics and Herchel Smith Professor of Physics at Harvard University, US
• Piers Coleman, Professor of Physics at Rutgers University, US
• Hae-Young Kee, Professor of Physics & Canada Research Chair in Theory of Quantum Materials at the University of Toronto, Canada
• Zi Yang Meng, Professor of Physics at the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong
• Nandini Trivedi, Professor of Physics at Ohio State University, US
• Fu-Chun Zhang, Professor of Physics at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Sciences, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China
The conference will serve as a global platform for physicists to share knowledge, discuss recent discoveries, and explore future directions in condensed matter physics. With its mix of plenary sessions, invited talks, and interactive components, 'Progress In Physics 2024' promises to be a key event for the global physics community.
