IOP Publishing (IOPP) has been awarded the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publisher’s (ALPSP) inaugural Impact Award for being the first publisher to implement both double anonymous and transparent peer review across all their owned journals. After being shortlisted, IOPP’s initiative was chosen by ALPSP members and a judging panel and awarded the accolade at ALPSP’s annual conference dinner in Manchester.
New for this year, the ALPSP Impact Award recognizes initiatives that deliver impact on society, attitudes, education, equality, diversity, inclusion, the environment or any area that can make a significant difference to people with the broader focus on academic research and study.
Combining double anonymous peer review and transparent peer review across all IOPP’s owned journals allows for maximum objectivity during the review process, and maximum transparency after publication.
At the conference, Kim Eggleton, Head of Peer Review and Research Integrity at IOP Publishing, delivered two sessions on topics related to innovation in peer review, before being presented the Impact Award on behalf of IOPP.
