The General Assembly of the International Publishers Association (IPA) has elected publisher YoungSuk "Y.S." Chi as IPA President for a renewable two-year term. There were also a large number of new appointments to IPA's Board. The announcements were made during a meeting in Frankfurt on October 7, 2010.
YoungSuk "Y.S." Chi (Elsevier, U.S.A.) received broad support from the IPA General Assembly and will be IPA President for a renewable two-year term starting on January 1, 2011. The General Assembly elected Ibrahim El Moallem (Dar El Shorouk, Egypt) and Alain Kouck (Editis, France) as Vice-Presidents. The team of President and Vice-Presidents will represent IPA throughout the world.
The IPA General Assembly also elected five new board members: Bjorn Smith-Simonsen (Pax, Norway), Michiel Kolman (Elsevier, The Netherlands), Richard Charkin (Bloomsbury Publishing, UK), Manfred Antoni (Ernst Klett AG, Germany), and Henrique Mota (Principia Editora, Portugal) will serve on the fifteen-member strong IPA Executive Committee for a three-year term.

Established in 1896, IPA's mission is to promote and protect publishing and to raise awareness for publishing as a force for economic, cultural and political development. Around the world IPA actively fights against censorship and promotes copyright, literacy and freedom to publish.IPA is a trade association with a human rights mandate.
