IReL is pleased to announce a new open access (OA) publishing agreement with Elsevier, specifically for its prestigious Cell Press journals. This agreement, which is retroactively effective from January 2024 and extends through December 2026, marks a significant step forward in making cutting-edge research more accessible.
Under this agreement, authors affiliated with participating IReL member institutions will be able to publish their research in Cell Press journals as open access without incurring any author-facing OA fees. This initiative is designed to support the broader dissemination of scientific knowledge while ensuring that high-quality research remains widely available to the global academic community.
In addition to OA publishing privileges, participating institutions will continue to enjoy read access to a selection of Cell Press journals, further enhancing their research capabilities and access to current scientific advancements.
Authors who have had eligible articles accepted for publication between January 2024 and August 2024 will be contacted in the coming weeks. They will be allowed to convert their articles to open access under the new agreement, ensuring their work reaches an even broader audience.
This agreement underscores IReL’s commitment to advancing open access initiatives and supporting the academic and research community across its member institutions.
