Global library cooperative Online Computer Library Center, Inc. (OCLC), US, has announced the Jackie Dooley, internationally recognised expert in the fields of archives, visual materials, special collections and archival standards, has accepted a position with OCLC Programs and Research as a Consulting Archivist.
Currently Head of Special Collections and Archives at University of California, Irvine, Dooley will begin working in September 2008 with colleagues in OCLC Programs and Research offices in San Mateo, California, and Dublin, Ohio. Her primary assignment will be to work with the RLG Partnership, programme officers, research scientists and product development staff to develop recommendations and an implementation plan that will expand OCLC's global support for archives and special collections.
Named a Fellow of the Society of American Archivists in 2000 and elected to the Grolier Club in 2001, Dooley has held leadership positions in the Society of American Archivists, the Association of Research Libraries, the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section of the Association of College and Research Libraries and the Online Archive of California (part of the University of California's California Digital Library).
