The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) has appointed Dr. Jacob Hooker of the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School as the editor-in-chief of ACS Chemical Neuroscience.
Hooker is the Lurie Family professor of radiology in the field of autism research at Harvard Medical School and directs a thriving neuroimaging and chemical neuroscience program at the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at MGH. He serves as scientific director of the Lurie Center for Autism, director of radiochemistry at the Martinos Center and director of translational biomarkers at the MGH Center for the Neuroscience of Psychedelics. He holds affiliate or associate appointments at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Broad Institute and the Dana Farber Cancer Center. Hooker is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, and a Talented 12 Award from ACS’ Chemical & Engineering News.
ACS Chemical Neuroscience, established in 2010, publishes high-quality research articles and reviews that showcase chemical, quantitative biological, biophysical and bioengineering approaches to the understanding of the nervous system and to the development of new treatments for neurological disorders. Hooker has been closely involved in the journal’s activities since its inception, having been one of the first authors published in the journal, publishing in it more than 30 times, and having served as an associate editor since 2013 and in the capacity of interim editor-in-chief since the beginning of 2021.
