Jenny Du named new Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Applied Remote Sensing -

Effective January 1, 2024, Qian (Jenny) Du, from Mississippi State University, is set to take the helm as the new Editor-in-Chief of the esteemed Journal of Applied Remote Sensing (JARS).

Du, holding the distinguished title of Bobby Shackouls Professor at Mississippi State University, assumes the role, succeeding Editor-in-Chief, Ni-Bin Chang, who has capably led the journal since 2014.

A prominent figure in the field, Du has been a fellow of SPIE since 2015 and actively contributed to the SPIE Publications Committee from 2021 to 2022. Her substantial editorial background includes several years of service as an associate editor for JARS. Additionally, she has garnered extensive editorial experience through her tenure as Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing from 2016 to 2020, along with her role as an associate editor for multiple other journals. Notably, she was recognized as a highly cited researcher by Clarivate in both 2021 and 2022.

Du's research primarily focuses on digital image processing and machine learning, particularly their applications in addressing remote sensing challenges. She possesses specialized expertise in hyperspectral image exploitation. Her research portfolio spans a wide array of topics within remote sensing image processing and analysis, encompassing target detection, anomaly detection, change detection, classification, spectral unmixing, dimensionality reduction, band selection, multisource data fusion, real-time processing, parallel computing, data compression, registration and mosaicking, sharpening, visualization, and image super-resolution.

JARS, one of the 14 journals published by SPIE available in the SPIE Digital Library, serves as a platform for publishing peer-reviewed articles that encompass the latest concepts, information, and advancements within the remote-sensing community.
