Jisc has announced the appointment Liz Bal as director of open research services. Acting for and with Jisc members, Liz will provide strategic direction for Jisc’s services to ease the move to open research for UK researchers, institutions and funders.
Liz comes to Jisc with ten years of experience in academic journal publishing. In her most recent role as publisher Springer Nature, she was responsible for the strategic development of a portfolio of life science journals. She started her career in the early days of BioMed Central (BMC), the first commercial open access publisher, at a time when open access to published articles was not the norm.
