JISC names Kevin Ashley as director of Digital Curation Centre -

The Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC), UK, has announced the appointment of Kevin Ashley as the new director of the Digital Curation Centre (DCC), effective April 2010. He succeeds Chris Rusbridge who is retiring after six years as DCC’s director.

Ashley is the former head of the digital archives department at the University of London Computer Centre. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge of the information management issues facing colleges and universities. Ashley is taking over the leadership of the Digital Curation Centre team just as the DCC embarks upon a new phase of work.

JISC is funding a third phase of DCC activity (2010 – 2013) with a focus on building firm foundations for good data curation practice in institutions and research groups. The principal task of the DCC will be to promote and facilitate effective knowledge transfer and good practice among data custodians, producers and users.

The DCC was set-up by JISC in 2004 to give practical advice and guidance to colleges and universities on digital preservation, curation and information management.
