Jisc has updated its digital elevation tool to help further education (FE) colleges strengthen digital capability across teaching, leadership, and infrastructure. The relaunch introduces new assessment categories focused on artificial intelligence (AI), sustainability, and accessibility.
The digital elevation tool enables FE colleges to evaluate their digital, data, and technology maturity across five core themes: learners, curriculum, staff, leadership, and technology. The updated model now incorporates AI across all areas, along with enhanced evaluation of sustainability practices, accessibility measures, cybersecurity readiness, business intelligence, and cloud computing adoption.
More than 100 colleges currently use the tool to guide their digital transformation strategies. The latest version allows institutions to better identify areas of improvement and align priorities with student and staff needs.
All FE colleges in the UK have access to the tool as part of their Jisc membership. Colleges can consult their Jisc relationship managers to identify digital skills gaps and access additional support through related initiatives such as the discovery tool, building digital capability service, and collaborative professional communities.
