JMIR Publications and Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) have extended their Institutional Publishing Agreement for an additional two years, continuing the partnership until June 30, 2028.
• Publishing extension: The agreement covers all articles accepted through June 30, 2028.
• Flat-fee model: TU/e corresponding authors will not be required to pay individual Article Processing Charges (APCs).
• Unlimited access: TU/e researchers can publish without APCs across JMIR’s portfolio of more than 30 Gold Open Access journals.
The agreement uses an Institutional Publishing Fee (IPF) model, which removes the burden of individual APCs and ensures equitable access for researchers at all career stages. It also provides budget predictability for the university.
Dennis O’Brien, Vice President of Communications and Partnerships at JMIR Publications, noted that the extension reflects a shift from per-article charges to a flat-fee model, offering financial stability and reducing administrative complexity for institutions.
Carlijn Postma, Head of Collections at TU/e, stated that the renewal aligns with TU/e’s commitment to advancing Open Science and reflects the growing importance of digital health research.
Under the agreement, TU/e-affiliated corresponding authors will continue to receive unlimited APC waivers. To qualify, authors must identify Eindhoven University of Technology as their primary affiliation and use their official institutional email address during submission.
