JMIR Publications appoints Amy Shirong Lu as Editor-in-Chief of JMIR Serious Games -

JMIR Publications has announced the appointment of Dr Amy Shirong Lu as Editor-in-Chief of JMIR Serious Games, strengthening leadership for the journal within the digital health and scholarly publishing landscape.

Dr. Amy Shirong Lu serves as an associate professor at Northeastern University, holding joint appointments in communication studies and public health and health sciences. She also directs the Health Technology Lab, where research focuses on the psychological, physiological, and behavioral aspects of digital health technologies.

Her work integrates theory-driven intervention research with interactive media, including active video games, extended reality (XR), and mobile applications. These approaches are applied to promote physical activity, cognitive health, and overall well-being across different stages of life.

Dr. Amy Shirong Lu’s research methodology spans experimental design, physiological and behavioral measurement, and qualitative inquiry. This interdisciplinary approach has contributed to a deeper understanding of how narrative, interactivity, and embodied engagement can influence sustained health behavior change and improve outcomes through digital health interventions.

The appointment is expected to support the journal’s editorial direction and contribute to the broader research community engaged in serious games and digital health technologies.
