Safari Books Online, a US-based joint venture between publishers O'Reilly Media, Inc. and Pearson Technology Group, has announced an agreement with publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc., US. Under the deal, selected Wiley business and technology titles will be included in the Safari Books Online Library.
Safari's institutional, corporate and B2C customers will now gain access to authoritative content from the publisher's best-selling authors and branded imprints. The first Wiley titles are scheduled to appear on Safari Books Online in December 2007.
The Wiley collection is projected to complement Safari's developer content as well as bolster product management and frequently searched business topics. Safari's exclusive database will now include fully searchable, trusted technical and training content from all four top technology publishers in the market.
According to Nielsen Bookscan figures, Pearson, John Wiley & Sons, O'Reilly Media and Microsoft Press represent more than 85 percent of the computer books sold at retail in the US.
