John Wiley & Sons appoints Dr. James Milne as Publishing Director, Physical Sciences -

Publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc. has announced that Dr. James Milne has been appointed to the position of Publishing Director, Physical Sciences. Dr. Milne will join the leadership team of the Research Communications group, part of Wiley's Global Research business from September 1.

Dr. Milne brings over twenty years of experience in scientific publishing and will lead Wiley's global physical science journals portfolio from Oxford, England, and Weinheim, Germany, the home of the Wiley-VCH imprint.

Dr. Milne first entered STM publishing by joining Pergamon Press after completing his PhD in computational structural engineering. After Pergamon was acquired by Elsevier Dr. Milne held a number of editorial positions over 17 years, becoming Executive Publisher for Chemistry and latterly Business Developer, Innovation and Business Development.

In 2009 Dr. Milne joined the Royal Society of Chemistry as Editorial Director, being appointed Managing Director, Publishing a short time later. He is Chair of the STM Training Committee and a member of the board and council of the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers.

Wiley's physical sciences portfolio is an established source of world leading research, as reflected by the recent increase in journal impact factors. Leading titles include Angewandte Chemie, Advanced Materials and Advanced Energy Materials.
