Journal Clinical Proteomics joins BioMed Central OA portfolio -

Open access publisher BioMed Central, UK, has launched Clinical Proteomics, with Dr Daniel Chan as Editor-in-Chief. Previously published by Springer, the journal has joined BioMed Central's portfolio of open-access titles.

Clinical Proteomics launches with a number of interesting articles, including an article from Mehrani et al. that identifies protein expression signatures for lung damage from the warfare agent Sulfur Mustard. Rukmangadachar et al. have also identified potential protein biomarkers, for the parasitic infection Visceral leishmaniasis; an endemic, and often fatal disease prevalent in the developing world.

Clinical Proteomics encompasses all aspects of translational proteomics. Special emphasis is placed on the application of proteomic technology to all aspects of clinical research and molecular medicine. Coverage includes new technology for clinical proteomics including protein arrays, mass spectroscopy, microanalytic devices, nanotechnology, and biosensors; protein-based assays for biomarker verification, validation and for clinical chemistry; computation and bioinformatics tools including pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, and computer learning algorithms; and clinical sample collection and handling for proteomic analysis.
