Journal of Dairy Science set to transition to open access in January 2022 -

The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA) and Elsevier have announced that the Journal of Dairy Science® (JDS) will become a gold open access (OA) journal with the January 2022 issue.

This means that authors who publish in JDS can make their work immediately, permanently, and freely accessible worldwide. JDS authors will pay an article publishing charge (APC), have a choice of license options, and retain copyright to their published work. This change is very beneficial to authors because OA provides readers free and immediate access to scientific research and enables authors greater opportunity to disseminate their work to the benefit of the academic community and the dairy industry.

The APC for ADSA’s professional members will be $1000 for papers submitted for peer review through January 31, 2022. Non-members who submit a paper through November 11, 2021, will also be granted a transition APC of $1000 to publish.

The full APC rate for non-members will be $3500. For papers submitted February 1, 2022, or later, the APC for ADSA professional members will be $1600.

The Journal of Dairy Science® (JDS) is an official journal of the American Dairy Science Association®, co-published by Elsevier and FASS Inc., for the American Dairy Science Association. JDS readers represent education, industry, and government agencies in more than 70 countries, with interests in biochemistry, breeding, economics, engineering, environment, food science, genetics, microbiology, nutrition, pathology, physiology, processing, public health, quality assurance, and sanitation. JDS has a 2020 Journal Impact Factor of 4.034 and five-year Journal Impact Factor of 4.354 according to Journal Citation Reports (Source: Clarivate 2021).
