Journal of Electronic Imaging names Karen Egiazarian as editor-in-chief -

Prof. Karen Egiazarian of Tampere University of Technology in Finland has been named editor-in-chief of the Journal of Electronic Imaging (JEI) starting January 1, 2016. The journal is published by the Society for Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T) and SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics.

The Journal of Electronic Imaging publishes papers in all technology areas that make up the field of electronic imaging including technologies involved in the design, engineering, and applications of electronic imaging systems.

Egiazarian succeeds Professor Gaurav Sharma of the University of Rochester, who has served as editor-in-chief since January 2011.

Egiazarian has served SPIE and IS&T in various capacities, including service as an associate editor of JEI since 2000, and chair of the Image Processing: Algorithms and Systems conference series within the Electronic Imaging Symposium since 2002. Egiazarian is a recipient of IS&T's 2014 Service Award.
