Open access publisher BioMed Central, UK, has announced that the Journal of Neurodevelopmental Disorders has published its first open access articles. The journal was launched by Springer in 2009, publishing research focusing on the pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental disorders.

Journal of Neurodevelopmental Disorders will also be publishing a thematic series on reward processing in autism later in the year. The journal seeks to integrate current, cutting-edge research across a number of disciplines, including neurobiology, genetics, cognitive neuroscience and psychology. The primary focus is on the pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental disorders including autism, Fragile X Syndrome, tuberous sclerosis, Turner Syndrome, 22q Deletion Syndrome, Prader-Willi Angelman Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, Lysosomal Storage Diseases, dyslexia, specific language impairment and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
The journal moves to BioMed Central with an Impact Factor of 1.27.
