Atypon, a provider of software to the scientific and scholarly publishing industry, has announced the launch of the new website for the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy® (JOSPT®). Powered by Atypon's Literatum, the next generation JOSPT website features full-text articles, enhanced search and seamless content delivery to mobile devices.
All JOSPT content published from January 2010 onward – as well as the clinical practice guidelines JOSPT produces in cooperation with the American Physical Therapy Association's Orthopaedic Section and JOSPT's imaging features – are now provided in full text on www.jospt.org, in addition to PDF. This new full-text capability enables JOSPT to deliver content to desktop and laptop computers and mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets.
Several features of the new site are intended to improve the user experience. A content widget on the site's home page provides easy access to JOSPT content - whether the articles are recent, ahead of print, imaging, clinical practice guidelines, or written for patients. An improved search engine lets users explore content by author, title, keywords, collections, and publication dates. Searches can be saved, and search histories can be displayed. The home page also contains lists of most read and most cited articles. Each article page provides a link to related articles in PubMed and Google Scholar that have cited the JOSPT article. Users can also run faceted searches by keyword and author to access related articles in JOSPT and CrossRef.
In addition, individual article pages include an Article Tools box. This box provides single-click access to the article and the article's figures in PDF and PDF Plus, which includes references and citing articles. The toolbox also lets users add the article to their Favourites file, download the article citation to a variety of reference managers, track citations of the article, and email the abstract to a colleague.
