Academic publisher SAGE has announced that the Journal of the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health will be changing its name to Perspectives in Public Health, from the beginning of 2009. The title change is a result of the merger of the Royal Society of Health with the Royal Institute of Public Health to form the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH), which will take place on October 1, 2008.
The merged organisation will be the oldest multidisciplinary public health membership body in the world, resulting in a much wider audience for Perspectives in Public Health.
Perspectives in Public Health seeks to create a forum for high quality discussion on all aspects of public health, and championing the importance of effective policy and practice. The journal will publish themed issues on the major health challenges of the 21st century, including obesity, nutrition, the built environment, food safety, and sanitation. It will also publish submissions on all aspects of public health across all disciplines. While the journal's new website will become http://pph.sagepub.com, the old website (http://rsh.sagepub.com) will continue to direct users to the journal.
