JSTOR, the preservation archive and research platform arm of the not-for-profit ITHAKA, has announced the launch of the JSTOR Current Scholarship Program (CSP). Libraries participating in the programme may begin accessing current journal issues on the JSTOR platform. Current issues are seamlessly integrated alongside archival content.
The Current Scholarship Program, initiated by JSTOR and the University of California Press, was created to help the academic community - presses, scholarly associations, libraries, faculty, and students - benefit from investment in a shared technology platform and related services to support the publication, dissemination, and use of new scholarship. CSP launches with 174 titles from 19 publishers for the 2011 subscription year. Additional publishers and titles will be added to the programme for forthcoming subscription years.
The launch of CSP brings recent journal issues as well as additional content formats to JSTOR, including some full-text HTML journals, and articles enhanced with multimedia files. Also included in the launch of CSP are several titles that were previously unavailable online. A number of new publications will also launch within the Programme.
Titles in CSP that were previously available from the platforms of the University of Chicago Press, Indiana University Press, the University of Illinois Press, and the History Cooperative have been updated with URL redirects to the JSTOR website. The University of California Press will be implementing URL redirects later this week. Article DOIs have also been updated to point to the content on JSTOR.
