Medical and scientific publishing company Karger Publishers and Derma.one GmbH have recently signed a joint venture contract. The purpose of the cooperation is the long-term, global commercialisation and further development of the ‘dermakonsil’ app.
Karger will contribute its competences in content management and publishing while Derma.one will take responsibility for the technical and medical know-how. In a first phase, the commercialisation of the app will focus on the German-speaking area. After the launch of the English version of the app, the reach will be expanded to countries like the USA, the UK and Australia.
‘dermakonsil’ is a digital handbook for dermatologists when diagnosing skin diseases. Since 2014 the app has been developed by a team around Professor Dr. Alexander Navarini and Vahid Djamei and assists dermatologists in differential diagnosis, evaluation of disease state, and therapy. ’dermakonsil’ is a learning tool that quickly adjusts to the personal needs of the user. Dermatologists can use this independent academic resource as an app on a mobile phone as well as via a desktop application.
