Scientific and medical publisher Karger Publishers has finalized a comprehensive Publish & Read deal with MALMAD, which is now available to all members of the consortium. The contract allows access to all Karger eJournals, including backfiles, as well as providing the option for all affiliated researchers to publish OA in Karger journals at no additional cost to authors. This is Karger Publishers’ first OA agreement in Israel.
MALMAD, the Inter-University Center for Digital Information Services, acts as a consortium for the acquisition, licensing, and management of digital information services to Israel’s universities and colleges. This inter-university cooperation and pooling of resources ensures that modern digital information services are provided more efficiently and at a lower cost-per-user.
According to Julia Kersebaum, Manager, Academic & Research Institutions at Karger Publishers, this agreement brings Karger Publishers a step closer to their goal of a sustainable transition to OA. With this agreement, the publisher seeks to support Israeli scientists to more effectively and openly communicate their research.
