Scholarly publisher Karger Publishers is once again on the lookout for trailblazing innovators as it launches its fifth annual Vesalius Innovation Award. Aimed at early-stage startups in the Health Sciences and Publishing sectors, this prestigious award seeks to recognize and reward innovative technological solutions poised to make a significant impact in their respective fields.
Building on the success of previous years, the Vesalius Innovation Award returns with an impressive total prize pool of $25,000. The top performer will walk away with a grand prize of $15,000, while two deserving runners-up will each receive $5,000. This year's competition promises to be fiercer than ever as startups vie for recognition and support for their groundbreaking endeavors.
The focus of this year's award centers on Health Sciences communication, with a special emphasis on research integrity, knowledge transfer, and artificial intelligence. Early-stage startups are encouraged to submit their applications via the dedicated website, karger.com/via, starting from May 6 until July 31.
A distinguished jury comprising leading experts from the Health Sciences and publishing domains will oversee the evaluation process. Following meticulous assessment, the top five startups will be invited to showcase their solutions at the STM Week in London in December. This platform offers a unique opportunity for startups to gain valuable exposure and engage with a broader audience of industry professionals and stakeholders.
Since its inception, the Vesalius Innovation Award has been presented in collaboration with the STM Association, underscoring the industry's commitment to fostering innovation and excellence. The organizers extend their heartfelt gratitude to the STM Association and sponsors for their unwavering support over the years.
Reflecting on the impact of the award, last year's winner, PIPRA AG from Switzerland, developed a patient-centric technology to prevent postoperative delirium. Meanwhile, Ludenso from Norway and Teraquiz from Brazil were recognized as runners-up for their innovative contributions to Health Sciences and Publishing.
The Vesalius Innovation Award, named after the renowned Renaissance anatomist Andreas Vesalius, represents a unique opportunity for startups to gain recognition and support for their pioneering solutions. Karger Publishers encourages all eligible startups to seize this opportunity and wishes them the best of luck in the competition.
