In a move to bolster research accessibility, Khalifa University of Science and Technology has partnered with Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, to establish an open access agreement. The collaboration will provide Khalifa University researchers with access to Elsevier's extensive journal catalog through ScienceDirect and enable corresponding authors from the university to publish their research open access in select Elsevier journals, free of article publishing charges.
This agreement marks a significant step for Khalifa University, furthering its commitment to global knowledge sharing and ensuring that its cutting-edge research reaches a broader audience. Open access publishing allows scientific findings to be freely available, removing barriers for readers and fostering wider dissemination of academic work.
As part of its broader strategy to enhance research management and visibility, Khalifa University launched Khazna, a state-of-the-art institutional repository, in January 2024. Powered by Elsevier's Pure research information management system, Khazna offers a comprehensive platform that hosts the university’s vast research output, including over 1,880 PhD and Master’s theses, providing full metadata, abstracts, and, in many cases, full-text access.
Ranked as the UAE’s top higher education institution, Khalifa University continues to lead in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. With multiple research centers and labs equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the university supports a wide range of Technology Readiness Level (TRL) projects. The open access agreement with Elsevier will further strengthen Khalifa University’s role as a leader in academic excellence, innovation, and commercialization, positioning its research at the forefront of global scientific advancements.
