The University of Kansas Libraries has launched full campuswide access to Scite.ai, an AI-powered research tool designed to enhance literature discovery and citation analysis. The tool enables users to see how research is cited across disciplines, distinguishing between supporting, contrasting, and mentioning citations.
Scite covers more than 187 million publications and 1.3 billion citation statements, tool designed to help researchers quickly find scholarly literature across disciplines in STEM and the social sciences. It includes Scite Assistant, an AI research assistance tool that answers queries using real citation data and provides summaries with linked references and search strategies.
The platform is owned by the same company behind Article Galaxy Scholar (AGS), allowing KU researchers to access paywalled content through existing publisher relationships. It also supports Interlibrary Loan requests, expanding access to materials beyond standard collections.
Following a successful trial run by AI-focused groups within KU Libraries and the Center for Teaching Excellence, the service is now available to students, faculty, and staff across all KU campuses, including Lawrence, Medical Center, Edwards, and Wichita. Library staff have been training users through workshops and events to support effective use of the tool and inform future subscription decisions.
