The United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology and scientific publisher Nature Publishing Group, UK, have announced the appointment of Dr. Gene P. Siegal as the sixth Editor-in-Chief of Laboratory Investigation. Laboratory Investigation is an official publication of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. The journal publishes independently peer-reviewed research and review material that advances the understanding of human and experimental disease.
Dr. Siegal is an experimental and diagnostic musculoskeletal pathologist and world authority on bone tumors. In addition to pursuing his research interests in tumor-matrix interactions and cancer gene therapy, he is the director of one of the largest anatomic pathology divisions in the country at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Siegal brings extensive experience to Laboratory Investigation having previously served as an editor and a member of several editorial boards. He is joined by Dr. Brian Rubin and Dr. Robert W. Hardy who have signed on as Senior Associate Editors. Managing Editor Dr. Catherine Ketcham has agreed to continue in her role under the editorship of Dr. Siegal.
