The London Book Fair, British Council and the UK Publishers Association are participating in Seoul Book Fair 2013 in advance of Korea being the Market Focus country at the LBF 2014, scheduled for April 8-10.
During Seoul Book Fair, the LBF Market Focus team, in association with its UK partners, British Council and the UK Publishers Association, will hold a reception on June 17, have a joint stand in the Seoul Book Fair (F36) and will host a seminar event on June 20. All activity will be focussed on meeting professionals from the Korean publishing industry so that they can provide more information about the opportunities that LBF’s Market Focus 2014 programme can offer.
The seminar on June 20 will discuss the LBF Market Focus programme and opportunities it will create for Korean publishing professionals. Speakers will include Amy Webster (LBF), Emma House (PA), Rebecca Hart (British Council), Daniel Crewe (Profile Books).
The LBF Market Focus programme has been running for 10 years and it has done much to open doors for publishing markets who have taken part, including the Arab World, China, Russia and South Africa, creating both commercial and cultural partnerships around the world since it was first introduced in 2004.
The 2013 programme will put Korea in the spotlight and offer the Korean industry a chance to promote its content, technology, authors and culture to a broad audience of international publishing professionals, during the three days of the fair. As in past years, the Market Focus programme will be supported by an exciting series of cultural events across the UK, both within the book fair and outside, featuring visiting Korean authors, curated by British Council, the UK’s leading cultural relations organisation. This associated cultural programme, which runs in partnership between The London Book Fair and the British Council, will place a spotlight on contemporary Korean authors and literature.
Korea was chosen as The London Book Fair Market Focus for 2014 to reflect the country’s status as one of the top ten publishing and technology markets in the world, and its expanding reputation within the international literary community.
