cOAlition S, a prominent global initiative promoting Open Access to scholarly research, has announced significant leadership changes with the appointment of Mari Sundli Tveit as the Chair of the cOAlition S Leaders Group.
Mari Sundli Tveit, currently serving as Chief Executive of the Research Council of Norway (RCN) and President of Science Europe, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. With a background as a Professor of Landscape Architecture and former Rector of the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Mari is well-versed in the discourse surrounding scientific publishing and the imperative for Open Access.
Mari Sundli Tveit succeeds Marc Schiltz, who previously served as Secretary General at the National Research Fund (FNR) in Luxembourg. Given Marc's instrumental role in developing and supporting Plan S since its inception in 2018, he will continue to provide strategic input to the cOAlition S Executive Steering Group as a non-voting member.
Mari will officially assume her role as Chair of the cOAlition S Leaders Group in June 2024. In the interim period, Lidia Borrell-Damian, Secretary General of Science Europe, will assume the responsibilities of the Chair.
These leadership changes signal a new chapter for cOAlition S, reaffirming its commitment to advancing Open Access principles and driving positive change in scholarly publishing practices.
