Information solutions provider LexisNexis, US, has added full-text patent records from 'BRIC' countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) to its TotalPatent research service. Patent law professionals will now gain access to full-text patent collections from patent authorities worldwide. This advantage is expected to help customers make more informed decisions on patent and intellectual property issues for their companies or clients.
TotalPatent is a patent research, retrieval and analysis solution offering a broad collection of online first-level patent information. The new full-text records from the four BRIC countries are all searchable in machine-translated English. Collectively, they represent an addition of 4.7 million full-text records, bringing the total number of accessible, full-text records to more than 40 million. Of these, more than 80 percent are now searchable with English search terms.
The integration of semantic and Boolean search technology allows for a simple, streamlined user interface. The semantic search solution, developed in alliance with Dallas-based PureDiscovery, is setting a new standard in online patent research by cutting through the problem of information overload and enabling researchers to directly identify and access specific patent research they need.
