Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, has announced that the Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione IULM (IULM University) has chosen the Ex Libris Alma® resource management service and the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution. With the combined platform, the university anticipates increasing integration with other campus and library systems, improving the discovery experience for users, and creating innovative new services. Alma and Primo will replace IULM University's existing Ex Libris Aleph integrated library system and EBSCO® Discovery Service.
IULM University decided to migrate to Alma and Primo to meet new challenges in library management and address evolving user needs. It was essential that the IULM library system be integrated with a number of campus systems, such as student records and resource acquisition platforms, while giving librarians access to timely, accurate usage statistics and providing them with essential information for developing collections in line with pedagogical requirements. IULM also wanted to satisfy users' rapidly rising demand for e‑resources.
Together, Alma and Primo fulfill all these needs, and with the platform's truly cloud-based architecture, numerous administrative tasks, such as performing system upgrades and migrations, are shifted from the library staff to Ex Libris.
