Lund University selects Serials Solutions Summon Discovery service -

Serials Solutions, a business unit of the US-based ProQuest LLC, has announced that Lund University Libraries has launched the Summon service as the primary starting point for research on its website. The Lund University Libraries claims to be one of Sweden's oldest and largest research libraries.

Lund University Libraries is a network consisting of 30 faculty, departmental and centre libraries in Lund, MalmÖ and Helsingborg, with a collection consisting of more than 15,000 e-journals and 500 databases as well as e-books, dictionaries and encyclopaedias. The University is also the first Swedish institute of higher education with an Open Access policy which actively promotes the development and dissemination of scientific information within the Open Access movement. It plays a leading role in providing free online access to scientific information and the Summon service aligns with this mission.

The Summon unified index contains more than 35 Open Access repositories and over 90 institutional repositories and digital collections from customers and other sources and the service is openly available for searching without authentication. Summon searches across more than 800 million records which are optimised for discovery using an exclusive match and merge process for content ingestion. This allows the service to return a single, unified result set and provides users with options for scoping searches and navigating across large results sets.
