Enterprise software firm MarkLogic Corporation, US, has announced that Big Data experts will join the company at MarkLogic World 2012. The event will take place at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC from May 1-3, 2012.

Participants at the event can expect to meet with MarkLogic experts, customers and partners to discuss new ideas, tips and techniques, and industry trends. The three-day conference will feature keynotes, Big Data case studies, live demonstrations, an active developer lounge and opportunities for networking with Big Data experts.

MarkLogic World 2012 will be keynoted by retired Adm. Mike Mullen, who was chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2007 to 2011. Mullen will discuss ‘The Intersection of National Security and the Global Economy.’

In addition, three leading research analysts will take part in an analyst panel to discuss ‘Trends in Big Data.’ Matt Aslett, research manager, 451 Research; Mark Beyer, research vice president, Gartner; and Noel Yuhanna, principal analyst, Forrester will take the stage to discuss the state of Big Data, major trends in Big Data, predictions for the next five years, and the momentum of Hadoop.

MarkLogic will also honour thought leaders and technological innovators at the event. MarkLogic Excellence Awards and the Lindblad Award are given to customers, partners and integrators within the MarkLogic community for Big Data Applications that boost revenue, streamline operations, enable mission success, demonstrate thought leadership, and otherwise outshine the competition. The deadline to submit award nominations is April 4.

The MarkLogic Excellence Award will be presented to three customers and/or partners that have implemented MarkLogic solutions in new and innovative ways to achieve a substantial effect on the business or organisation. This includes new deployments, advancements on existing deployments and added features.

The Lindblad Award is a special recognition for one individual, not an organisation. Named for MarkLogic founder and CEO Christopher Lindblad, this award is presented to a single person within an organisation who has gone above and beyond to successfully innovate in his/her organisation with MarkLogic.
