Publisher Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers have announced the launch of a new, peer-reviewed journal - Brain and Gut. This new journal will publish leading-edge research dedicated to exploring a whole systems approach to health and disease from the intimate relationship between the brain and the digestive systems.
Classically, medical journals have been dedicated to publishing research focused on specific body systems. Brain and Gut breaks with this tradition and recognises that understanding how the seemingly disparate nervous system and digestive system interrelate offers up a powerful resource for understanding health and diseases.
The editorial team will be led by Dr. David Perlmutter, a board-certified neurologist and fellow of the American College of Nutrition who will serve as Editor-in-Chief. Assistant Editors will include Dr. Aristo Vojdani, Director of Immunosciences Lab, Inc., Los Angeles, CA, and Dr. Gerard E. Mullin, Associate Professor of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Brain and Gut is dedicated to exploring a vast array of physical interrelationships, including those between the gut bacteria, the microbiome, and various processes. These relationships underlie human disease, including inflammation, immunity, neurotransmitter production, and the clinical manifestations of disturbances of these processes. Such disturbances include inflammatory disorders throughout the body, digestive disorders, cognitive issues, mood disturbances, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and cancer.
Additionally, the journal will explore relevant laboratory and clinically important research, with supportive review articles, original articles, and case studies offering clinicians an in-depth understanding of various clinical situations whereby implementing documented interventional strategies to help many patients suffering from brain, gut, and body dysfunctions.
