McGraw-Hill makes 95% of higher education titles available in digital format -

Education materials publisher McGraw-Hill Education, US, has announced that it is currently offering digital versions of 95 percent of its current higher education titles. All of the company’s content for elementary school and secondary school is available in digital form. McGraw-Hill's line of digital, interactive programmes for the higher education market includes McGraw-Hill Connect – an assignment and assessment platform that seeks to individualise lesson plans for students while incorporating material found outside conventional textbooks.

The digital versions of McGraw-Hill textbooks are available through CourseSmart, an e-book retailer that allows students to purchase top higher educational content and view it on a laptop computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. CourseSmart offers search capabilities, highlighting, note-taking features and online access. Additionally, McGraw-Hill is continuing to form partnerships with many e-book reader platforms and device makers including Amazon Kindle, enTourage Systems, Follett/CafeScribe, MBS/xPlana, VitalSource Technologies and ScrollMotion.

In the wake of economic challenges, many educational institutions in the US are observed to be turning toward digital solutions to provide flexible learning options. Some states have reportedly gone a step further by setting a deadline for a complete digital transition. For instance, a new California state law requires that all textbooks used in public and private postsecondary institutions be made available digitally by the year 2020. McGraw-Hill is aiming to meet this requirement 10 years ahead of schedule.
