McGraw-Hill Education, a division of the McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc., US, has announced that McGraw-Hill networks, the company's digital social studies program for the middle and high school markets, received two honours at the 2013 Association of Educational Publishers' Annual Awards. Announced at the Association of American Publishers' (AEP) annual conference, Content in Context, these awards recognise McGraw-Hill Education's leadership in delivering innovative digital solutions for students and teachers that improve teaching and learning in classrooms around the country.
For the second year in a row, McGraw-Hill networks won a Golden Lamp Award, one of educational publishing's longest-running and most prestigious honours, and a Distinguished Achievement Award, both in the Whole Curriculum Programs category. The Golden Lamp Awards highlight the 'best of the best' products for teaching and learning each year. The Distinguished Achievement Awards honour the best in a range of product types and resources used by teachers, parents and students.
Each of the awards recognises winners in four categories - Periodicals, Professional Development, Supplemental Resources, and Whole Curriculum Programs. Additionally, McGraw-Hill Education's McGraw-Hill My Math and McGraw-Hill Reading Wonders were nominated for the Golden Lamp Award this year.
McGraw-Hill networks combines engaging digital and print resources to help students discover and learn essential social studies content. The program, which can be personalized and customized for each student to support differentiated instruction, transforms social studies instruction and learning into an exciting and interactive experience through audio, video and other collaborative multimedia features.
Honoring excellence and innovation in the education community, the Association of Educational Publishers' Annual Awards represent the longest-running and most highly regarded recognition program in the industry. Products were judged in a three-tier process (educator review, professional review and certification) with only the best materials advancing to the higher rounds. Having products judged first and foremost by educators is critically important because they know best which products will succeed or fail directly in the classroom and ensures that the winners are truly leaders in the field.
