MDPI has announced that it has reached a milestone of publishing 500 academic journals by the beginning of 2026, including nine conference proceedings journals.
Covering all scientific fields, MDPI continues to identify areas where there is demand for specialized open access publishing and actively expands its portfolio to meet the needs of the research community.
This expansion recognizes the importance of multidisciplinary research, where collaboration across traditional disciplinary boundaries drives innovation and addresses complex real-world challenges.
Every new journal undergoes a selection process for its Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board Members, ensuring editorial standards from the outset.
New journals are also indexed in major databases within a reasonable timeframe, with a median of four years for inclusion in Scopus and Web of Science, providing visibility and recognition for authors and their work.
