MDPI, a leading open access publisher, has announced the renewal of its partnership with the Jisc consortium for 2025. This extension underscores a shared commitment to advancing open access publishing and ensuring widespread accessibility to high-quality research in the UK.
The agreement continues to support the participation of 62 UK institutions in MDPI’s Institutional Open Access Program (IOAP). Through this collaboration, authors from participating institutions benefit from:
• Discounted Article Processing Charges (APCs): Authors receive substantial reductions on APCs, making publishing more accessible and cost-effective.
• Enhanced Support for Centrally Funded APCs: Institutions that centrally fund APCs receive even greater discounts, streamlining the publishing process for researchers.
A full list of participating institutions is available on MDPI’s platform.
MDPI reaffirms its dedication to gold open access publishing, which ensures that research is freely accessible to readers without barriers. By fostering this model, the publisher aims to simplify the publication process, reduce administrative burdens, and amplify the global reach of academic research.
This renewed agreement strengthens MDPI’s relationship with UK institutions, enabling researchers to benefit from cost-efficient publishing options while contributing to the dissemination of knowledge. The partnership aligns with Jisc’s mission to support higher education institutions in advancing open access initiatives and fostering innovation in academic publishing.
As the global academic community increasingly embraces open access, the MDPI-Jisc partnership represents a step forward in ensuring that cutting-edge research remains accessible, equitable, and impactful.
