MDPI appoints Yomna Badawi as Assistant Editor-in-Chief of Brain Sciences -

MDPI has appointed Dr. Yomna Badawi as Assistant Editor-in-Chief of the open access journal Brain Sciences, supporting editorial leadership alongside Editor-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Stephen D. Meriney.

The appointment is intended to strengthen editorial operations and support the journal’s continued development within the field of neuroscience and related disciplines.

Dr. Badawi will collaborate with Prof. Meriney to enhance editorial processes and contribute to the journal’s scientific impact. The role includes supporting peer-review oversight, editorial decision-making, and engagement with the global research community.

Dr. Badawi earned a PhD from the University of Kansas and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Academic experience also includes a faculty appointment as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh.

In January 2026, Dr. Badawi joined the University of Kansas Medical Center as an Assistant Professor, continuing research and academic work in neuroscience.
