MDPI has appointed Prof. Dr. Paul R Ward as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (IJERPH).
IJERPH is a transdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open access journal published monthly. It covers areas such as global health, healthcare sciences, social and commercial determinants of health, mental health, infectious and chronic diseases, disease prevention, exercise and health-related quality of life, environmental health, and environmental sciences.
According to the announcement, Prof. Ward’s research spans public health, medical sociology, and health equity, emphasizing socio-spatial inequalities, trust, risk, and access to health and social care. He has authored over 400 peer-reviewed articles; Google Scholar lists an H-index of 72 and over 26,000 citations (as of 26 August 2025). He is recognized in the Stanford/Elsevier Top 1% of global scientists in Public Health.
The announcement thanks founding Editor-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Paul B. Tchounwou for his service and notes Prof. Ward’s intention to strengthen the journal’s role as a platform for high-impact research addressing broad determinants of health and equity.
