MDPI has renewed its Flat-Fee Publishing Agreement with the Universidad Católica de Valencia San Vicente Mártir (UCV) following the 2024–2025 agreement period. The renewal extends the agreement for the 2025–2026 year. The arrangement applies across MDPI’s portfolio of more than 500 peer-reviewed journals.
Under the agreement, UCV-affiliated authors will receive cost-free publishing during the covered period. The renewal reflects UCV’s support for open access (OA) publishing and is intended to enable wider dissemination of research outputs. The agreement is described as simplifying the publishing process for affiliated authors.
The material states that the agreement increases visibility and accessibility for scholarly outputs from Spain. It also notes growing support for open access in Spain. In 2023, The Ministry of Science and Technology launched Spain’s first National Strategy for Open Science with the objective of integrating open science principles by 2027, including making publicly funded research open access by default.
