Open access publisher MDPI has released its 2023 Annual Report, showcasing a year of significant achievements and reaffirming its leadership in advancing OA publishing. The report details a substantial growth in submissions and publications, alongside impressive satisfaction rates among authors, reviewers, and guest editors.
In 2023, MDPI received an extraordinary 655,065 submissions, publishing 285,244 articles, which has secured the company a commanding 17% market share in gold open access articles. The median publication time was notably efficient at six weeks.

• Market Leadership: MDPI holds a 17% market share in gold open access articles across all disciplines.
• High Satisfaction Rates: Record satisfaction rates include 95% of authors, 82% of reviewers, and 85% of guest editors.
• Editorial Excellence: Enhanced editorial standards and feedback processes to ensure academic integrity.
• Increased Reach and Impact: 54 new MDPI journals were included in Scopus, 29 in Web of Science, and 77 in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

The publisher's fully OA platform attracted nearly 14 million monthly visitors in 2023, underscoring its significant impact on the scientific community.
