The Biophysical Society has named Melanie Cocco of the University of California, Irvine, the next Editor-in-Chief of Biophysical Reports. Her term will begin on January 1, 2026.
Cocco, who has served as an Associate Editor since the journal’s launch in 2021, will succeed founding Editor-in-Chief Jörg Enderlein of the Georg August University. Enderlein led the publication through its first five years, establishing itself as an all-open access option within the Society’s publications program and achieving an Impact Factor of 2.7.
Biophysical Reports focuses on short reports and innovative research across biophysics, with an emphasis on rapid publication and accessibility for both specialists and general readers. Under Cocco’s leadership, the journal is expected to continue strengthening its role as a platform for advancing new methodologies and insights.
The Biophysical Society, founded in 1958, has more than 6,500 members worldwide and promotes biophysics through its annual meeting, publications, and outreach activities.
