Mobile-optimised websites for Oxford Journals -

Academic publisher Oxford University Press (OUP), UK, has announced the delivery of mobile-optimised websites for its full range of journals websites, powered by the HighWire Press electronic publishing platform. All Oxford journals now have a mobile-optimised version of their full website that can be accessed via multiple mobile devices.

Users logging in through an institution's WiFi service will be able to access that institution's subscriptions; individual subscribers will be able to access subscriptions through username and password authentication.

The mobile web interface offers features such as view current, advance access and archived content; a mobile-friendly quick search page; email forwarding functionality; personalisation and authentication sign-in options; clearly identified journal branding; and streamlined display for small screens and low-bandwidth networks.

The mobile-optimised sites currently support iOS (iPhone and iPod Touch), BlackBerry OS, and Android smartphones. Support for Symbian OS and Windows Mobile is in development.
